Dieting....
What is up with dieting really, I ask myself.
Having been a chubby child, and bullied at school for years because of it, dieting is a returning phenomenon at my house. For better and worse. After years of eating disorders and anxiety levels that I wish on no one, eating these days is as normal as it gets. I assume. Have yet to visit other people's heads on the inside to know for sure!
The thing is. Why oh why do our bodies work so differently? Why on earth are some people skinny no matter what they do, and why do people like me gain weight so easily???
What annoys me more than that, is that I give a rats ass........!!
Funnily enough tho, I care less and less. And having a Scotsman by my side who couldn't care less, as long as the body can do what he wants it to do, makes it easier to think the same. I find myself worrying less about how it looks and fantasize more about if I could do a Tough Guy challenge or not!
Would it not be totally awesome, wicked, amazing to have done something like that and be able to say I DID IT!!
Now, my biggest holdback for training for something like that is that I have to run. Running is not a favourite pastime of mine. I always have, and I always will, claim that Big Butts Don't Run. However, my as-long-as-my-body-does-what-I-want-Scotsman doesn't mind running at all. In fact, he claims his body needs it. I have but to shut up and get with the program! *smile*
For the last two weeks I have been trying to stick to the "Fuhrman" diet. (a little too much wedding cake this summer, and a complete lack of willpower to stop eating goodies for too long a time) Which simply explained, to those who haven't heard of Fuhrman, is the direct opposite of Atkins. Eat as little as possible of animal products, as much as you want of fruits and vegetables, and stay off processed food, white flour, starches and sugar. Oh, and salt.
The sad thing is that it works.
Not just do one get in shape, you get healthier too!
I mean, I too wish that I would be healthy eating nothing but steak and bacon, but to be honest, it does nothing for your health. Food high in nutrients do. It's just a pity ice cream and chocolate cake don't qualify in that department.
Ok, so last week I had a meltdown at the Tax Office, and afterwards my Scotsman stated that I am hereby banned from dieting. I insist that the lady at the Tax Office should not, I repeat, NOT piss me off like that!
But it's true. I am ha horrible monster when my bloodsugar is low. Now, I insist that my blood sugar levels are equally low when not on a diet too, straight after work, and hungry like a wolf on speed. I just need to plan snacks, I keep forgetting!
At least two weeks into eating healthy i do not crave sugar any longer. Big bonus!
Yesterday I baked two yummy apple pies and a batch of home made bread. And made cocoa for my daughter and a guest.
And had none myself.
But I did enjoy a huuuge bowl of microwaved apples
with cinnamon and a BIG dollop of cottage cheese!
Ok so cottage cheese isn't a vegan product, but I do what I can,
I'm not perfect :)
